EtherCAT (Ethernet for Control Automation Technology) is an industrial Ethernet technology invented by Beckhoff that makes it possible to make machines and systems faster, simpler and more efficient. EtherCAT combines the advantages of Ethernet with the simplicity of conventional fieldbus systems and avoids the complexity of IT technology. The EtherCAT Technology Group (ETG), founded in 2003, makes it accessible to all. With more than 6,000 member companies in 67 countries (as of December 2020), the ETG is the largest industrial bus user organization in the world.
