Upgrade of the Paint Booth Control System

Project description

The modernization of the paint booth included a complete upgrade of the spraying technology with the aim of ensuring efficient, safe, and reliable operation for the next 10–15 years. The project included the installation of a new control system, six automatic and two manual SAMES INOGUN electrostatic spray guns, and a pair of single-axis manipulators with automatic motion adjustment according to the size of the coated parts.

An important part of the modernization was also the redesign of the booth’s safety system, which now complies with current legislative requirements. The original fire extinguishing system was replaced by optical fire detection with immediate automatic shutdown of the exhaust system, significantly increasing the operational safety of the entire line. The result is a modernized powder coating technology offering high reliability, high-quality paint application, and improved operator comfort.

A technologically interesting aspect of the project was the integration of the new automation with preserved parts of the original infrastructure and the installation of the equipment without the need for extensive construction modifications. The implementation also required precise coordination of the dismantling of the original technology, preservation of functional parts of the electrical installation, and carefully planned assembly sequencing to minimize production downtime. The result is a modernized paint booth with improved powder application quality, better operator ergonomics, and significantly enhanced operational safety.
